The MASCOR Institute is running a test and development site for intelligent production logistics and Industry 4.0 at our Campus Eupener Str: the Smart-fACtory.
The Smart-fACtory consists of a number of different components. Central are the Mobile Production Systems (MPS), which can be set up flexibly depending on the application scenario at hand. Additionally, there is a couple of collaborative working cells where human workers team up with robotic manipulators. In this setting, a group of mobile robots needs to complete production tasks in an autonomous fashion and cooperatively.
As part of the Hochschulinformationstags (HIT) 2021 organized by FH Aachen we demonstrated the Smart-fACtory in action. Because of the pandemic, this could not happen as a physical event with visitors of course. Instead, we invited you to join a video conference where you could have a look at what's happening in the factory, also from a robot's perspective!
In a WebEx-Meeting interested viewer could take a look around in the Smart-fACtory and they could observe the robots at work.
The Smart-fACtory is also home to the Aachen RoboCup Logistics League Team Carologistics.
The Smart-fACtory is located in the C building on the FH-Campus in Eupener Strasse. There's a large room which hosts the actual factory as well as a seminar room for trainings and such.
